Deltec Bank’s Chief Risk Officer: Emmanuel O. Komolafe, appointed by the Government of The Bahamas to Digital Advisory Panel

Nassau, Bahamas – May 6, 2022 – Chief Risk Officer of Deltec Bank & Trust Limited (“Deltec Bank”), Emmanuel O. Komolafe, has been appointed by the Government of The Bahamas to serve on the new Digital Advisory Panel.

The Digital Advisory Panel is comprised of nine-members focused on digital asset development, emerging trends, and associated risks, as noted by the Attorney General and Minster of Legal Affairs, Ryan Pinder, who tabled the Government’s policy white paper on the digital assets sector in the Senate.

The Attorney General said that the panel “will be expected to recommend any necessary changes to policy, the DARE Act and other legislation, to ensure that The Bahamas maintains its place as a well-regulated digital asset jurisdiction, while at the same time continuing to remain relevant and attractive for digital asset businesses to operate from, to grow and to prosper.”

As Chief Risk Officer, Emmanuel Komolafe leads the overall development and management of Deltec Bank’s robust enterprise risk management framework as an essential of component of the Bank’s business model, while guiding the Bank’s approach to working with clients in innovative and fast-growing sectors.

Emmanuel Komolafe is a Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) expert with years of experience in corporate governance, policy making, enterprise risk management, regulatory compliance, anti-money laundering, insurance, and strategic planning. He holds an O.N.D. in Accountancy from the Lagos State Polytechnic, a BSc (Econ) with Honors in Business Economics from the University of Buckingham and International Diploma in Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering (with Distinction) from the International Compliance Association (ICA)/University of Manchester in the UK. He also holds an LLM – Master of Laws with Merit specializing in banking law, securities regulation and international trade law from the University of Buckingham, UK. A Fellow of the Life Management Institute (with Distinction), Fellow of the International Compliance Association (FICA) and Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute in England (FCG/FCIS) and Chartered Governance Professional (CGP), Mr. Komolafe is a professional member of the Institute of Risk Management (IRM), a certified corporate governance trainer and ISO 31000 risk practitioner.

Previously, Emmanuel served as a member of the Government’s FATCA Advisory Working Group. He has served as director of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers’ Confederation (BCCEC), Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB), Institute of Internal Auditors and Insurance Institute of The Bahamas. Additionally, Emmanuel is a former Vice President of the Bahamas Association of Compliance Officers, Chairman of the Insurance Advisory Committee and Chairman of the Bahamas Insurance Association (BIA).
